STEVE DURR

Singer-songwriter-guitarist Durr grew up in Morrisville, but has lived in Alaska since 1968. In his teens, he led a very successful NYC-based band, The Declaration of Independence (1966-68), who played in Greenwich Village clubs and scored a Northeast regional hit with Steve's tune "Morning Glory Man."

Becoming disillusioned with the music business and life in the Lower 48, he left for Alaska with his family, including his dad, noted author and former SU English professor, Bob Durr. He has recorded several solo CDs in Alaska, and continues to write and record. In the summer, he plays clubs and serenades boats full of tourists for Talkeetna River Guides, right on the banks of the Talkeetna River, and is recognized as one of Alaska’s premier singer-songwriters.

“Durr is one fine songwriter and performer, solo and with his friends from Central New York band Homegrown. (He is) a poet who… shows a considerable way with words and a great eye and ear for the nuances of Alaskan life.” – Mark Bialczek, Music Critic, Syracuse Post-Standard, Syracuse.com.

BLUEPRINTS

Don Paul Way – vocals, bass

George Deveny – vocals, guitar

Dave Liddy – vocals, keys

Oscar Crandall - drums

Morrisville natives Way, Crandall and Deveny played in Homegrown in the 1970s, along with guitarists Bruce Tetley and Paul Crandall.  Way, Deveny and Liddy (again with Tetley and drummer Steve Evans) formed Blueprints in the late 80s. After recording House of Cards in the early 90s, Blueprints took some time off, returning to the CNY scene in 2005.  Liddy, Deveny and Crandall also played on Way’s recent solo CDs, Burning Daylight and Latitude 62. Their Madison Hall performance will feature several songs from 2007’s Latitude 62, as well as some new songs and old favorites from the band.

“Don Paul Way and his quite musical friends joined together joyously for his quite impressive second CD, "Latitude 62." - – Mark Bialczek, Music Critic, Syracuse Post-Standard, Syracuse.com.

Blueprints plays a combination of blues, rock, swing, boogie and folk, with solid vocals, a rock-steady rhythm section and great interplay between the guitar and piano They deliver strong original songs by the band's three talented songwriters, along with classics by great American masters, like Muddy Waters, Jimmy Reed and Louis Jordan.

Blueprints has appeared in concert at the Mohawk Valley Blues Festival 08, New York State Blues Festival, Chenango County Blues Festival, Fireworks Over Central New York, Munson Williams Proctor Arts Institute, Kirkland Art Center Fireworks Over Utica, Little Falls Canal Days and CNY BalloonFest. The band has opened for former Muddy Waters sideman, Luther "Guitar Jr." Johnson, Mark Wenner, The Nighthawks, C.J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band, Asleep at the Wheel and others.
