Morrisville, NY - Oct. 15, 2004 - Central New York songwriter Don Paul Way has released his debut CD, "Burning Daylight." The recording features 12 songs written by Way, who also played acoustic and bass guitar on the tracks. The CD was produced by Way’s long-time friend and musical partner, guitarist George Deveny.

"Recording these songs, having my own CD, has been my dream for a long time. To have it come together and achieve your dream is a fantastic feeling," he said.

"Burning Daylight," recorded at Utica-area Savage Studio and J.A. Castle Studio, features an all-star cast of central New York musicians. Producer/ guitarist George Deveny played Dobro, electric lead and slide guitar; David Liddy played piano and keyboards; Bob Holz handled the drums; Darryl Mattison contributed percussion; Terry Vickery played harmonica. Backing vocalists were Steve Quenneville, Alesha Gonyea, Maren Vantine and Deveny.

The CD is available on the Web at donpaulway.com and cdbaby.com. It also is available at selected retail locations in central New York, including Borders Music, Soundgarden, Barnes and Noble and Media Play in Syracuse; Last Unicorn in New Hartford; Oneida Music in Oneida, Colgate Book Store in Hamilton and Dougherty's Pharmacy and the Public Library in Morrisville.


Mastering of the CD was done at J.A. Castle Studio, while art direction and graphics were provided by Jeff Rule at Inkwell Graphix in Watertown, N.Y. Replicating services were handled by Oasis CD in Virginia.

Way is known for his work with the some of central New York's top blues-rock bands, Homegrown in the 1970s, with Deveny, and Blueprints in the 1990s, with Deveny and Liddy. He played in Alaska with the band Sockeye in the 1980s, working with old friends from New York who relocated north during the oil-boom days. A few of the songs on "Burning Daylight" date back to his Homegrown days, while others were written as recently as earlier this year.

In early October, Way launched his Website, www.donpaulway.com, designed and hosted by Black Dog Web Pages. and started to promote the upcoming CD release. Visitors to the site can see photos, listen to song cuts and contact the artist directly. "Burning Daylight" CD release parties are scheduled for a number of area venues, including historic Madison Hall in Morrisville on Fri.., Nov. 19; the Music Shop Pub in Norwich on Sat,. Nov. 20.

Way has appeared on bills with such legendary performers as Little Feat, Freddie King, the Nighthawks, Asleep At the Wheel, Roger McGuinn, Kenny Neal, Lucky Petersen and many others.
